Our journey began in 2018
Torrent Technologies Inc, a private equity group, was created in 2006 to fund and develop manufacturing companies with enabling technologies serving the defense, security, medical, industrial, and commercial markets. Since our inception, we have grown with global reach and manufacturing capabilities on multiple continents. Providing world-class products and services, including imaging and sensing solutions emphasizing multispectral and polarimetric systems, high-reliability electronic and electro-optical components and assemblies, optical filters, thin and thick film coatings, and fire-control optics.
Strategic Diversification through Torrent Coatings LLC
Torrent Coatings, LLC
Torrent Technologies strategically diversified by launching Torrent Coatings LLC, dedicated to thin- and thick-film design and manufacturing. Initially serving the defense sector, the division expanded across multiple markets. Acquiring MK Coatings’ assets bolstered their capabilities, despite initial plans to sell MK’s commercial coatings business. The economic downturn of 2008/2009 reinforced the importance of diversification. Torrent Coatings innovated with products like direct-to-metal colored paint and corrosion-blocking lubricants. Partnerships with DaeHwa Paints and PPG were pivotal, allowing customization and fulfilling niche market demands.
Strategic Expansion into Electro-Optics
Torrent Electro-Optics
Torrent Technologies expanded its capabilities by establishing Torrent Electro-Optics (Torrent EO) through the acquisition of Global Systems Inc. (GSI). GSI provided essential fabrication capabilities for optical components used in defense applications, allowing Torrent EO to progress from component fabrication to value-added subassembly production. Achieving ISO-9001 compliance underscored their commitment to quality and lean manufacturing principles. The addition of a class 1000 cleanroom further facilitated Salvo EO’s pursuit of electro-optic assembly contracts. However, the organization identified the need to develop a design team for systems-level product development to complete their operational capabilities.
